Spa history
The word Spa originates from the small community in Belgium called Spa that was renowned for its treatments in the 18th century. People came to Spa from far and wide to try the healthy thermal baths that it was believed could cure diseases. Spa was one of the most famous areas along with Baden-Baden, Bath, Karlsbad and Marienbad.
In the 17th and 18th century in Sweden several towns discovered that they had water that was unusually rich in minerals and opened similar institutions. It was here that people came for rehabilitation and to drink the healthy water.
We have used the word Spa since 1989 here in Sweden. To us the word Spa means a total perspective for body and soul, characterised by four corner stones:
|
1. |
Healthy food |
| 2. |
Physical training |
| 3. |
Mental balance |
| 4. |
Facial and body care |
